HEYSHOTT villagers filled the tent and Cobden Hall to admire exhibits in the village’s summer show.

Organiser Penny Masterton said: “With more than 200 entries, the judges were impressed by the high standard of the vegetables although the roses in particular were less prolific than usual.”

Exhibitors and visitors alike enjoyed tea and homemade cakes which were on sale during the afternoon.

Trophies and prizes: Jim West Cup for best exhibit: Derry Ivison for his inlaid guitar; Heyshott Cup for best bloom: Lynn and Brian Lowe for their dahlia; Vegetable Cup: Linda Moreton for her peas; Pam Hadley Cup for photography: Anthea Philip for her portrait of a playful cat.

For all the results, see this week’s Observer (August 21).
