Let there be light in Midhurst’s Knockhundred Row

MIDHURST town councillors are continuing to battle with West Sussex County Council over proposals for new street lighting in the town.

They are anxious to provide street lights in Knockhundred Row, which they believe is dangerous especially after 4pm in the winter months and should be made lighter.

But discussions with the county council have left them in the dark.

At first they were told the county council would fund standard lighting there, but they would have to pay for a decorative unit.

Now they have been told if they want any lighting at all in Knockhundred Row,
the town will have to bear the cost.

Members of the town council are asking the county council, as the responsible authority, to give them an assurance that lighting is not needed in the street.
