THE Wey and Arun Canal Trust (WACT) Centre at Loxwood has opened for a new season under new supervision.

WACT announced Dave Verrall has expanded his role in the group and will now act as canal centre supervisor, as well as continuing with his publicity and social media work and canal restoration duties.

And it means the centre will be able to open for longer hours this season.

Dave, who has been a member of WACT for many years, joined the trust’s midweek working party team of volunteers a couple of years ago.

He said: “Since opening in 2012, the centre has been very successful and increasingly busy. We have new sales lines we will be introducing this year, including a new updated edition of our popular Restoration Guide.

He will work with canal centre manager, Lyn Nash, and the centre is now open 1pm-5pm Tuesday and Thursday and 11am-4pm at the weekend.
