VISITORS to Haslemere Museum were treated to an insightful and fascinating talk by a very special guest and patron.

Loyd Grossman, chairman of the Heritage Alliance, renowned gastronome and television presenter, went along to the museum, of which he is a patron.

He gave a lecture full of humour, points of interest and fascinating facts to ponder.

Titled Inside the Museum Walls – Distinctiveness in the Weightless World, the talk explored the challenges and opportunities the digital world presents for museums, galleries and heritage sites.

Loyd was almost overwhelmed by the number of questions asked by intrigued listeners at the end of the talk, which were stopped only by the time of the train he had to catch back.

Haslemere Museum is in the middle of its Museum in a Million fundraising year and has reached £400,000 to date, but still has a long way to go.

The range of activities and events on offer can be seen on the museum website or by dropping in to reception.

All proceeds from the event went to the Museum in a Million Appeal.
