A SET-BACK means the new £9m Grange Centre at Midhurst will not open until March next year and the current centre will remain in use until mid February.

But current leisure centre manager Mike Boyce has been named as the man in charge of the new centre.

“It is going to offer so many opportunities and make services much more accessible,” he said. “My staff and I can’t wait to open the doors. I think people are going to be amazed at the space and the amount of services under one roof.

“I am looking forward to welcoming both existing and new customers to our new leisure centre and gym.”

Cllr Eileen Lintill, CDC’s top leisure councillor said: “Mike has a wealth of knowledge of the area and the community so he is perfectly placed to lead the new team.

“There has been a slight delay but everyone is working hard to open as soon as possible and it is still our intention the old centre will close two weeks before the completion of the new centre.
