Midhurst Gun club in search for new home

Sussex Wildlife Trust has ordered a clay pigeon club to leave its shooting ground at Stedham Common by the end of next year.

Midhurst Gun Club, which has had monthly shooting sessions on the common for half a century, has had confirmation from the trust that its lease will not be renewed after 2010.

Club spokesman John Baron said it was now actively seeking a new home.

The trust, which owns Stedham Common, maintains the club's noisy activities are not compatible with a nature reserve.
