BOOKWORMS can spend even longer absorbed in a good book at the new Midhurst library.
The West Sussex County Council library, which took five years to plan, is housed in the new Grange centre and will open tomorrow (March 31) at 9am.
Its state-of-the-art self-service borrowing machines will be available during centre opening hours, which on weekdays are 7am-11pm, plus Saturday 7.30am-7.30pm and Sunday 9am-7.30pm.
Lionel Barnard, cabinet member for residents’ services with responsibility for libraries, said: “This is really good news for Midhurst and our library will be a great addition to what is a super community facility.
“The opening hours mean our service is accessible to far more people at times that may better suit them, which is a good thing. I hope lots of people enjoy using it.”
The library will be supported by community centre staff when librarians are not on duty.
A wide range of books will be available, along with CD audiobooks, DVDs and free WiFi throughout the building, with a dedicated space for children and a free weekly toddler time with shared songs and rhymes each Monday at 2.15pm.
