AWARD-winning young voices joined seasoned veterans of the Midhurst Musical Society for the first time at their spring concert.
And it was such a resounding success that members of the society organised a special celebration strawberry tea with the Conifers youngsters.
Director of music, Mary Knight said: “We wanted to thank the Conifers singers for their outstanding contribution to our concert.”
Coached by Annette Mathias, Conifers School’s head of music, the 16-strong mixed choir sang the children’s sections in Andrew Carter’s Benedicite that closed the concert.
“The combined strength of the Conifers choir and the Midhurst Musical Society drew high praise from the full audience in St Mary’s Church Easebourne,” said Mary.
Emma Smyth, headmistress of Conifers School, told the Observer: “It was a great opportunity for the school choir to sing with a full orchestra.
“The pupils thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
Conifers School was top prize winner of Spirit FM’s ‘Xmas Factor’ choir competition.
The radio station broadcast part of its breakfast show live from Conifers School after announcing they were winners.
