MIDHURST Town Council’s assistant clerk Natasha Young is celebrating after completing the London Marathon.
And she did it in an impressive four hours, 29 minutes and 49 seconds.
A long-standing member of the Midhurst Milers running club, Natasha ran the marathon to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, inspired by her friend and fellow runner Michell Quaid who is a sufferer.
So far, Natasha has raised more than £1,372 and donations are still coming in.
She said: “I ran the first half of the race in just over two hours, but slowed down after that.
“It got hotter and hotter throughout the day.
“The training is just so difficult through the winter months in terrible weather. You feel guilty compromising everything else, including your own children.
“But the result is worth it. The atmosphere on the day is incredible - everyone cheering you on over Tower Bridge, there is nothing like it.”
The mother of two, who celebrated her 40th birthday recently, completed the marathon a decade ago, less than one hour faster than this year.
“The buzz on the day of the race is electric,” she added.
“You think to yourself, ‘never again’, but it’s worth it just for that feeling.”
