ROBERT and Sheron started out in business in Midhurst four decades ago, but they are still at the cutting edge of their trade.

So Robert and Sheron Hairdressers held a special celebration to share their 40th anniversary with their friends and customers.

The couple first opened the doors of their salon in Wrest Street in 1974 and have built a successful business, making it through some difficult economic conditions.

Their daughter Emma joined the team as senior stylist and manager of the salon and together with staff members Denise Pearce and Megan Cowell, they continue to go from strength to strength.

Robert and Sheron put the secret of their success down to a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

“I still have some of the clients who first started seeing me 40 years ago,” Robert said.

“I think the secret is maintaining a good friendly service.

“Our clients enjoy the whole salon experience, from chatting to staff over a coffee or relaxing with a magazine, and ultimately leave feeling pampered and happy.”

Emma said keeping up with fashion was also a key factor in maintaining the success of the family business.

“We make sure we attend regular shows and courses in London to keep up to date with all the latest trends in styles, colours and cuts. We also stock the hottest products of the season.

“Yes, we have our long-standing clients whom we value immensely, but it’s important to attract new clients and we do this by keeping current and modern.”

Over the years Robert and Sheron have supported staff through college and educational schemes. They have a passion for hairdressing and feel it’s important to nurture young talent and hairdressing of the future!

“We have enjoyed a wonderful 40 years of business in Midhurst and would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their loyal support.

“We hope to continue to welcoming you and some new faces through the doors for many years to come!”

Customers shared a celebration cake baked by Robert and Sheron’s daughter-in-law, Amie.
