A MIDHURST mum-of-two has saved the town’s slimming club from closing – and lost three stone in the process.
Office manager, Vicki Porter, 31, joined Slimming World in January last year after vowing she would not return to work in her maternity clothes.
Midhurst consultant Lyndsay Thompson helped Vicki understand the healthy eating plan which fitted in with her family lifestyle.
Vicki said: “I heard Slimming World was in my area, so I went along to take a look and was welcomed by a lovely consultant and all the friendly members.
“This was the best decision I could have made!”
Following an operation, the consultant of the Midhurst group had to take time away from her role, leaving the group in turmoil.
With no consultants in the area, 60 members were unsure what the future held for their group.
Vicki added: “I loved my weekly group and suddenly realised that myself and fellow members may have to find somewhere else due to unfortunate circumstances.
“It was then that I realised how passionate I was about Slimming World and supercharged my weight loss to ensure I could save the group!
“I owe everything to Slimming World and so knew I needed to keep it in my life.”
Slimming World consultants are trained and recruited from their member database.
“If I hadn’t found Slimming World, I wouldn’t have lost three stone and the support from the group helped me to do that.
“That’s why I need to help them now and keep the group alive in Midhurst.”
The group has found a new venue so it can stay open 52 weeks a year and provide members with support, ideas and recipes.
Vicki will be running her group every Thursday evening, at Midhurst Youth Wing in Lamberts Lane, at either 5.15pm or 7.15pm.
