Midhurst cake shop looks set to open
CUPCAKE designer extraordinaire Carole Sharpe looks set to get the go-ahead to open her new business in Midhurst after town councillors welcomed the plan.
On Tuesday members of the planning committee considered her proposal to open the Exclusive Cupcake Company and Vintage Tearooms in the former Halifax office on Rumbolds Hill.
Chairing the meeting, Gordon McAra told fellow town councillors he believed it would be really positive for the town to have the “individual” shop opening in Midhurst.
He said it would also be good to have the unsightly and empty former Halifax shop, which is in a prominent position, once again open for business.
Colin Hughes said he was cheered by the fact that businesses such as the Exclusive Cupcake Company were opening in Midhurst.
He said people were obviously “doing their research” and coming to the conclusion it was an up-and-coming town in the new national park where new businesses could be successful.
Whether permission is granted for the plans – which Carole said would be “something really different” in last week’s Observer – will now be decided by Chichester District Council.
