IT has been two years in the making, but now Duncton village hall has been transformed into a hub of the community.
Following years of planning, an extension to the hall has finally been completed.
And in celebration, MP Nick Herbert will mark the occasion by opening the hall on January 31 at 12.30pm.
Grants came from Chichester District Council, West Sussex County Council, Duncton Parish Council and the Lord Egremont estate, while Duncton Hall paid for the rest by fundraising and hosting weddings and functions.
Money is still needed for furnishings, including carpet tiles, but a supply of paving flags will be provided by Chandlers, and Austens in Petworth has kindly donated the paint.
With the extension, the hall can now be used for meetings of the hall committee and the parish council and will be used when needed as changing rooms for children’s activities, film showings for the upcoming youth club, and small events – without the need for heating the main hall.
Light fittings have also been upgraded, to LED, ensuring the hall is environmentally-friendly.
