NORTHCHAPEL Primary School pupils will stand out from the crowds on their way into school.

Proven Cars in Haslemere, in association with Kia, have sponsored the school’s walking bus by providing children and volunteers with high-visibility jackets.

The walking bus operates on a Wednesday morning, meeting at the Half Moon Public house in the village.

Volunteer teaching assistants Wendy Francis and Karan Body walk with the children through the village, helping to ease congestion at
the school gates and providing a healthy way to start the day.

Marketing manager at Proven Cars, John Beckingham, went along to the launch, and was delighted to be able to sponsor the walking bus, which will be helping children get to school safely.

“Kia have a programme in place, sponsoring walking buses,” he said.

“It is down to local dealers to sponsor schools.

“We work with a couple of other schools in the area and when the opportunity at Northchapel came up, we grabbed it.

“It’s a great thing to be involved with.

“Kia provides the bibs and we provide the money to sponsor the school – it is a 50/50 partnership.”
