SNAP up a piece of history and swap your shrapnel for some highly sought-after, incredibly rare Roman coins.
Bellmans Auctioneers in Wisborough Green is to launch 2014 with the sale of a large and interesting collection of coins.
The collection consists of more than 200 Roman, late Roman, British and world coins and will be sold on Friday, January 24, from 10am.
The collection is particularly strong in late Roman Solidi and Islamic gold coins and will be fully illustrated on the Bellmans website at www.bellmans.co.uk.
It is open to view from Friday, January 17.
The unique collection has been privately consigned by a Sussex family which has been passed down through the family for more than a century.
Highlights include a gold five-pound Victoria coin, dated to 1887, depicting the jubilee head and St George to the reverse, with an estimate of £1,200-£1,500.

The sale also includes coins originating from the Roman Empire, Theodosius I (AD 379-395), one of which displays a superb portrait of Constantinopolis seated holding sceptre and shield.
Prices in this particular lot range from £500-£900.
The collection is open to view from tomorrow until the morning of the sale.
