Picnic time in the park at Kirdford

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and the Countryside Alliance are getting together to stage another Picnic in the Park near Kirdford on Saturday, July 19.

The event is held in the grounds of a modern-day castle, Whithurst Park, and those going along will be able to relax by the lakeside, feast on local produce or cook their own barbecues, dance the night away to live and disco music and see a spectacular firework finale.

Visitors can stroll along a concessionary footpath created under the Countryside Stewardship scheme and other attractions include a bouncy castle, heavy horse dray rides and, weather permitting, a hot air balloon launch.

Admission, by ticket only, will be 15 a head with reductions for children and parties of ten or more. Reserved spaces will be available and food can be pre-booked but visitors are also welcome to take their own portable raised barbecues.

Details and booking forms for tickets are available from RABI regional officer Sally Field by post to Home Farm Bungalow, Wepham, Arundel, BN18 9RA, telephone 01903 882741 or 07799 798441, or email.
