FOLLOWING the success of a huge Petworth fundraising event, a Midhurst pub called upon residents to do their bit for charity.
New manager at the Swan Inn, Midhurst, Tara Whyte, was inspired by the story of Hannah Stanton that was reported in the Observer earlier this year.
Hannah, from Petworth, passed away in December, 2013 from an undiagnosed heart condition, at the age of 21.
In April her friends and family held an event at the Deja Vu salon to raise money for the charity CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young.
“I read the story and was really touched,” said Tara.
“Having just taken over the pub, I wanted to do an event to raise money for CRY based on Hannah’s story, to support her brave family and friends.”
With a raffle, barbecue and tug of war among other activities, the event raised more than £250.
Charity representatives from CRY also went along to the event.
“Everyone who did come to join us enjoyed the day and hopefully we have raised some sort of awareness of ‘Hannah’s Story’ and for CRY,” added Tara.
