THE Wey and Arun Canal Trust is inviting everyone for a Poddle through Surrey.
Walkers are invited to explore new paths and help raise funds to restore the Wey and Arun Canal with the 42nd annual ‘Poddle’ on Sunday, June 8.
One of the highlights will be the new riverside path created by the canal trust along the banks of the Cranleigh Waters in Shalford.
The walk starts from the National Trust’s 18th-century waterwheel, Shalford Mill near Guildford, and will cover 12 miles, including refreshment points and a lunch stop before finishing at Shalford church.
There is a shorter afternoon walk, from Shalford Church, which will be four miles long and start from 2pm.
Anyone joining the longer walk should arrive between 9am and 10.30am. Those opting for the shorter route should arrive at the church between 1pm-2pm.
For details about how to join and raise money towards this registered charity, contact Margaret Darvill on 01483 894606 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
A downloadable sponsorship form is available from www.weyandarun.co.uk
Walkers are asked to raise a minimum of £20. Other charities can also benefit from those joining the Poddle as a team and pledging to raise more than £200.
Any money raised by team entries will be split equally with a charity of the team’s choosing.
