A PUBLIC meeting will be held in Lodsworth this Wednesday (March 12) to discuss the future of the Lickfold Inn pub, owned by DJ Chris Evans.
This comes as the campaign to save the pub and give it back to the community gains momentum.
Villagers have long been fighting to save The Lickfold Inn, and have now been successful in a bid to get the historic building listed as an ‘asset of community value’.
They have been campaigning for the 15th-century pub since it was closed down by the DJ in 2010 and ‘left to rot’.
Chichester District Council has listed the building after pleas from district councillor Elizabeth Hamilton and Lodsworth Parish Council.
It means that if the pub is sold, the community has to be given priority to buy it.
People living in Lickfold argue that apart from being an eyesore, they have no other meeting place and it has impacted on their social life as a community.
They are now looking for investors and it is understood one resident who lives nearby is interested in restoring it to run as a pub.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 12 from 6.30pm in Lodsworth village hall, Lodsworth. The public meeting will discuss the Lickfold inn and the community right to bid registration.
