THE 2014 Fernhurst May queen has been selected.
She was picked from a quartet of young girls who will all be taking part in the ceremony on May 18 at the village fair, known for many years now as The Revels.
Rose Buchanan, 14, was selected by a trio of judges who asked the entrants why they wanted to be the queen, how they would cope with speaking in front of several hundred people, and whether they could keep smiling even if they were cold and it was raining.
All four were fantastic candidates and have taken part in previous Revels.
Rose, who lives in Fernhurst, plays netball and lacrosse at school and table tennis in the village.
The talented youngster also helps with the Beavers every week, sings in the school choir, and has won many prizes at the village’s horticultural shows over the years.
The Revels includes stalls, food outlets, music, Punch and Judy, a beer tent, maypole dancing, a dog show, a fancy dress show for all ages, archery, bee-keeping and classic cars as well as a host of other entertainments for the whole family.
The day starts at 12.30pm with a procession and goes on all afternoon.
