Stedham developer asks for planning extension
Developers have applied for an extension of time for their existing planning permission to change the use of the former St Cuthman's School at Stedham.
Alderley Land Ltd has permission to extend the main building and barn to form eight houses.
It also has approval to demolish four houses and replace them with two more, refurbish and extend another three existing buildings and provide car parking, garaging, staff accommodation, landscaping and reinstatement of a section of original driveway.
The school, which provided education for children with special needs, closed in July 2004 when it was declared surplus to requirements after nearly 50 years.
The closure was announced because of a serious fall in the number of pupils.
The school consisted not only of its Grade II listed main building but also a number of other buildings including a boys' former boarding house and staff cottages.
The former school is on the market with a price guide of between 4m and 4.5m.
