Stedham piano plea answered
SHIFTING a piano bought for a song certainly tested the resolve of Stedham Supper Show producer Juliet Page and two of her colleagues, Jane Darby-Hill and Anita Dunne.
They used Mrs Darby-Hill’s horse trailer to move the music-maker from Lurgashall to Stedham village hall, after an Observer reader answered an appeal. Mrs Page had sought help in finding a piano for her next Supper Show, a series of songs and sketches; within days of her plea being published, she had been offered one by Tonita Baker for £10.
The farmer’s wife had replaced her piano with an organ, so decided to offer it to a good home. The piano now awaits its debut at the Stedham show later in the autumn, but Mrs Page has one more plea: “I now realise we don’t have a piano stool so maybe one of your kind readers might be able to help?”
