MOONLIGHT Cottage in Cocking reenacted possibly the most famous story in the world on Christmas Eve.
Owners Sue and Steve received a phone call from the landlord of The Star in Petworth, asking if they had any spare rooms for some weary travellers who were unable to get to their destinations.
It had taken the travellers seven hours to get from Weybridge, in their attempt to get to West Chiltington.
“They had a young baby and were distraught,” said Sue.
“Another young lady was travelling from Esher to Pulborough and had been on the road for four hours, with no phone signal and it was a lonely Christmas Eve.
“We took them all in and they set off on their way on Christmas morning after a good nights sleep and breakfast.
“It was just like the nativity story!”
