SPRINGTIME in Lynchmere started at the edge of the little Lynchmere Common where walkers and dogs ambled round the gorse flowering heath, enjoying the sunshine and the company.
The start of Spring has been celebrated with a walk through Lynchmere.
All the dogs behaved with each other which makes group walking easier, but when they joined another dozen less able walkers, including three in wheelchairs, who had taken the path for the disabled to the viewpoint for a picnic tea, things changed.
In the sunshine, most people sat on the ground to eat their hot cross buns.
This brought the buns at labrador eye level with inevitable consequences. Buns disappeared at an alarming rate, including one from a walker’s rucksack and a whole packet was lifted by one of the eight black labradors on the walk.
Order was eventually restored and dogs and walkers lined up for a group photograph before the second half of the walk back to St Peter’s Church where a short service was held.
