Worthing Splash Point makeover revealed

The £500,000 cultural makeover contract for Worthing's Splash Point has been awarded to landscape architects, craft:pegg.

Artist impressions, concept ideas and information about each design were displayed at Worthing Town Hall where the public could leave their comments which were then used to help the final judging panel make their decision.

Cabinet member for regeneration, John Rogers, said: "I am excited by the Splash Point plan.

"I think it will provide a lovely, relaxing focal point for visitors and a great meeting place for everyone.

"The views will be spectacular both out to sea and along the coast."

The cost of regenerating Splash Point is being met through the government's Sea Change programme, to create a buzzing active seafront.

Worthing was one of only nine councils chosen to receive the grant managed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).

The scheme will incorporate a rainbow water feature.
