LODSWORTH and District Garden Club basked in hot sunshine to celebrate its 52nd flower and produce show on Sunday, August 19.
Despite what one entrant described as ‘the worst growing season for 60 years’, the quality and quantity of entries was excellent.
The flowers, fruit and vegetable classes were very popular and the culinary skills classes attracted an abundance of entries. The photographic classes were well represented and more than 50 fine photographs were on display.
This year the eight trophies were shared between seven entrants. Mary Daubeny also enjoyed the ultimate accolade, a certificate of merit for her presentation of mixed flowers.
Vera Baker presented the club with a box of home-grown vegetables and a basket of tasty delicacies and fine wine for the raffle.
Penny Olsen, the club chairman, welcomed the visitors, congratulated the winners, presented the prizes and thanked everyone for making the show such a special occasion.
