VILLAGE shop Lodsworth Larder in Petworth has been shortlisted in the Contribution to the Community category of the Nectar Business Small Business Awards 2013.

And now chairman Martin Lester is looking for support to help him take the title home.

If successful, the Larder will win £2,000 cash, 50,000 Nectar points, and Martin will be invited to the Nectar Business Round Table event in September, where he will meet and get business advice from lead judge, Karren Brady – a leading businesswoman and a star of The Apprentice.

The eco-friendly shop offers groceries and postal services to members of the community who struggle to visit the nearest shop, which is 2.3 miles away.

Martin said: “Being able to get first hand advice from the likes of Karren Brady about my business would be really valuable in taking us to the next level.

The prize money and Nectar points will be used to help fund a new deli counter for our customers.” Lodsworth Larder will be pitted against five other businesses in a public vote, open until August, 4.
