HISTORIC Market Square in Midhurst will close early tomorrow morning (February 18) as long-awaited work gets underway to rejuvenate the ancient core of the town centre.
A spokesman for West Sussex County Council (WSCC) said contractors Balfour Beatty would be moving in for the start of the work, which is expected to be finished by the end of July.
He said Market Square would be permanently closed to all traffic, and parked cars should be removed from the area by 7am.
The aim of the work is to restore Market Square and Church Hill to their former glory by turning the area into a recreational space for pubs and cafes to use for outdoor seating.
Any queries should be made to WSCC on 01243 642105.
