Man’s best friend to be source of fund-raising for Heyshott charity

A HEYSHOTT charity is hoping hundreds of people will help raise money for them this weekend.

Portsmouth’s biggest-ever dog walk will take place on Sunday (September 9) in aid of Canine Partners, which trains dogs to help care for people with disabilities.

The event, called Bark in the Park, involves a 2km dog walk.

The day runs from 10am- 4pm at 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, on Western Road, and there will also be agility shows, grooming sessions and toy stalls.

Canine Partners’ fundraising manager Julie James said: “The dogs are trained to help with everyday tasks such as unloading the washing machine, fetching the post, opening and closing doors, shopping, and picking up dropped items.”

Tickets are £5 per dog and £2.50 for every extra dog.
