Man who died in River Rother named

THE man who died in the River Rother near Petworth on Saturday (April 21) has been named as 29-year-old Nick Crosswell, of June Lane, Midhurst.

At approximately 6.45pm on Saturday police attended the rive following a report of a man having fallen into the river.

Mr Crosswell had fallen from his kayak while travelling along the river with a friend, and died.

A postmortem has taken place and the cause of death has been established as drowning. Police are not treating the death as suspicious and an inquest has been formally opened and adjourned.
