Man charged after silverware is stolen from Linch church

Thieves had stolen a safe containing £25,000 worth of silverware from a church in Woodmangreen, north of Midhurst, between August 22 and 27 last year.

The haul included 22 silver items including plates, dishes and goblets, contained in the wall mounted safe in a small room inside St Luke’s Church in Linch Road.

Now Michael Buisson, 23, from Bordon, Hampshire, has been charged with theft by finding of all but two of the items. The recovered items have been returned to the church.

He is due to appear on bail at North Hampshire Magistrates Court in Aldershot on Thursday, February 3.

Almost all the property stolen has been recovered.
