THE sight of grown men tottering in wigs and high heels to the sound of Aerosmith’s rock anthem ‘Dude looks like a lady’ raised plenty of smiles at Chichester Rugby Club.

But far more than wolf whistles of appreciation were being gathered by the enthusiastic entrants for St Wilfrid’s latest fundraising event.

Clearly entering into the spirit of its Hike In Heels day, the exotic array of ‘ladies’ assembled in all their finery to raise thousands for the hospice’s vital work.

More than a few eyebrows were doubtless raised as the brave souls who had donned everything from female PC uniforms to outrageous leopardskin numbers attempted to strut their stuff.

The 1.7km course gave the men a taste of their own medicine as they gamely attempted the route with more than a few wobbles in their glittering footwear.

Darryl White, 47, of Thirlmere Way, Felpham, dressed as a blonde PC.

He said: “St Wilfrid’s gets only 15 per cent funding from the NHS for its work and we just wanted to help out where we can.”
