A MIDHURST author has put pen to paper and written an unusual history book.
John Knight, humorous writer and illustrator, has created an unusual history of our monarchy.
The book, Monarchs Mice and Midhurst, is the only history of the British monarchy to be written in verse, with some explanations in prose.
“A small book for grown-ups who haven’t actually grown up defines the target readership nicely,” said John.
“The book will appeal to adults, but also to young adults.
“To aid this there is no swearing, cursing, coarse language, foul speech, dirty words, or other profanities.
“This was quite tricky to achieve given the sticky ends that befell some of our monarchs.
“It is an irreverent, humorous look at our monarchs, the good, the bad and the incredibly dim-witted.”
As a dog lover, and having spent many years in the military, John decided Midhurst charity Canine Partners will benefit from any success from the ebook.
Canine Partners works closely with Help for Heroes and John hopes the book will help to raise funds to provide an assistance dog for a wounded marine or soldier.
