MIDHURST firefighters were on a shout with a difference when they lined up in the new- look Market Square to form a guard of honour.

It was the first wedding to take place at the parish church since the £400,000 refurbishment of the Market Square and Church Hill.

And the team turned out in full uniform for the wedding of former colleague Nick Plater.

Nick who married Mara Muir on Saturday, was a Midhurst firefighter before moving to London where he is now a full time fireman at Lambeth Fire Station.

The couple who met at the Swan Inn just a stone’s throw across the Market Square from where they were married at the weekend are both from Midhurst.

Nick’s parents Lynne and Richard Plater live in Claremont Way.

Mara’s mother Doon lives in Knockhundred Row and her father Andrew lives in Bepton.

The best man on Saturday was Tom Clement and the bridesmaid was Nina Muir, the bride’s sister.

The couple are planning a honeymoon in Mauritius in September.
