Midhurst man hospitalised after car crash

A MIDHURST man was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries last night (May 30) after an accident left him trapped in his car in his own driveway.

Firefighters were called to his home in Petersfield Road shortly before 6pm.

Fire officer Nigel Gamblen said: “It appeared the man had been trying to turn into his driveway when he was in a collision with a van.

“His wife was able to get out of the car but he was trapped and we had to use specialist equipment. We worked with paramedics to stabilise him and then cut the roof off the car to get him out.”

The man taken by ambulance to hospital.
