PLANS for a multi million pound supermarket in Midhurst moved a step closer after Waitrose exchanged contracts with Chichester District Council to buy the site of the former Grange centre which was bulldozed last year.

The developers, Kimberley Developments, aim to submit a planning application to the South Downs National Park Authority this spring for the Bepton Road store. Their aim is to start building in the autumn and open for business late next year.

Plans for the store which could provide some 150 new jobs in the town are being unveiled at a public exhibition in the new Grange community and leisure centre tomorrow (January 16) from 10am-7pm.
