Val Biro, writer, artist and illustrator, famous for his children’s books featuring Gumdrop, the vintage car, helped the Midhurst Writer’s group celebrate its 25th anniversary by judging a short story competition.

The winner was Don Falgrim, pictured receiving the Ray Bell Memorial Award trophy from the group’s chairman, Bob Berry.

Also pictured is runner-up, Andrew Guyatt. Both winning authors have a number of titles available on Amazon.

The Midhurst Writer’s Group meets each Monday at The Grange, Midhurst and is always pleased to receive new members, either novice writers or established authors.

“If you have a story, article or poem looking for an audience, why not bring it along between 7.30pm-9.30pm?” said Andrew Guyatt.

“You can be sure of a warm welcome together with friendly encouragement and sound advice. Just drop in or call me on 01730 812055.”
