The Adder Brown Memorial Trial organised by the Bognor and District Motor Cycle Club for the Colonel’s Cup was held again this year in Verdley Woods near Fernhurst.

‘Adder’, or Adrian, Brown was a man with great enthusiasm for life and a very keen motor cycle rider with many friends from across the south took part in the testing trial through the woods.

Course designers, James Gammon and Kerry Hill had made maximum use of the many deep little streams that flow down the hills, and included very sharp turns.

Bert Brown, Adder’s father, was there to support the riders.

Winners were: Experts: T Moss 26 penalties; Inter 50/50: J Gammons 25 penalties; Novice: A Penrice 35 penalties; Clubman A: B Hampton 23 penalties; Clubman B: K Stewart 24 penalties; Over 40: J Laker 39 penalties; Over 50: M Marshall 14 penalties; Over 60: F Puttock 18 penalties; Twin Shock A: S Martin 36 penalties; Twin Shock B: A Carruthers 23 penalties; Youth A : T McCabe 101 penalties; Youth B: J Dance 37; Wobblers: M Pullen 29 penalties.
