The former Midhurst intermediate school at Easebourne could become a multi-purpose site giving a new home for the village primary school, football club and community facilities.
A special steering group has been set up to look at the future of the Midhurst Rother College site which is set to be empty in two years time.
Michael Brown, county councillor for Easebourne has told parish councillors he supports their bid for sporting and social facilities at Wheelbarrow Castle and added there was a possibility Easebourne Primary School would also move to the site subject to finding funding for alterations to the building.
Midhurst and Easebourne Football Club is also looking at the site.
Committee member, Chris Wigley said: “The club desperately needs to develop and improve facilities to continue to compete at the same level in senior football – we need flood lights and a new clubhouse as our current clubhouse is quite decrepit.”
“We are keen to explore all possibilities so we are looking at the Midhurst Rother College site at Easebourne and the Rotherfield in this connection.”
