It’s all hands on deck at canal trust.

Recently-appointed WACT honorary secretary Tony Tyrrell plans to combine his committee duties with crewing on public trip boats after completing his training.

Tony brings more than 35 years of experience of working with charitable organisations to the trust.

The former lecturer decided to look for a charity to help following his retirement, and selected WACT partly because of the memories he had of walking along the canal on a walk from the Thames to Littlehampton 25 years ago.

Tony has taken over the role from Julian Morgan, who has held the post since 2004.

Julian will continue as a director of WACT and work on the organisation’s publications
and IT.
