AS visitor numbers grow at family-run Upperton Vineyards in Tillington, a new centre is opening for the start of the 2015 season.

When the vineyard launches the new centre on April 18, there will be a new shop, conference room and marquee area.

There will be free wine tastings and homemade cakes on the terrace overlooking the downs.

Owner Andy Rogers said: “We have some of the most spectacular views of the South Downs and people love to come and see them on the vineyard tours and wine evenings.

“We wanted to further enhance people’s experience here at Upperton by improving our shop and tasting area.”

James Rogers, director of operations, added: “It’s important to us everyone really enjoys visiting Upperton and sees why the south of England is one of the most
exciting new wine regions in the world, and that it’s possible to produce award-winning wine in Sussex.”
