THE Queen’s New Year honours list has been announced today, and four special people in the Observer area will receive an award.

Jennifer Mary Gray Jones, will receive an OBE for services to the community in Bognor Regis, after her work in transforming an old church into a community arts centre, organising the Bognor Birdman, and turning one of the town’s pubs into a museum.

Peter Alan Brown, former director of international operations at Chichester College, will receive an MBE for services to further education, thanks to his development of the college and the community in international intake and integration.

Judith Mary Clark, of Chichester, will receive a BEM for her fundraising work with Save the Children.

Humphrey Paul Sladden, will also receive a BEM for services to the South Harting community.

His tireless work as churchwarden, parish councillor, and as chairman of various community groups is why he will receive an honour.
