GARDENERS have had to cope with long spells of dry weather and torrential rain through a challenging growing season, but there were still well over 200 entries Northchapel’s vegetable and flower show on Saturday (July 16).

Competitors were up early setting out their entries in Northchapel Village Hall for the 17th annual show, which began life in a small tent on the village green and has grown into a full-blown summer show well supported throughout the village.

Judge Sheila Rapley reported: “The standard in the Northchapel Show gets higher and higher.”

Two entries were awarded certificates of merit – Pam Bruce’s flower arrangement entitled Royal Wedding and Rosanna Clifton’s vegetable rabbit in the children’s section.
