Person hit by a train near Haslemere

A PERSON has died after being hit by a train near Haslemere.

There is disruption on South West Trains between Guildford and Haslemere after a person was hit by a train today (April 2).

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:

“We were called to Witley rail station in Surrey on Thursday, 2 April to reports of a person hit by a train at 4.20pm.

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from Surrey Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service but the person was declared dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“A file will be compiled for the coroner.”

Delays are expected to continue into the evening.

Southern services are accepting South West Trains tickets on trains between London Victoria and Portsmouth.
