GOLD, silver and bronze chief scout awards have been handed to 27 members of the Petworth and Pulborough group.
Chris Welfare, chairman of Fittleworth Parish Council, presented the certificates at a Scout District reception at Fittleworth Village Hall.
“Chief scout awards are the highest achievable in each scout section and only those who attend scout meetings regularly and complete the required number of challenge badges receive it,” said district commissioner Kathleen Bridger.
“Thanks to Bear Grylls, chief Scout, who has done a great deal to promote scouting to young people and adults, it is very popular in the district, incorporating groups at Ashington, Bury, Billingshurst, Easebourne, Fittleworth, Harting, Ifold, Petworth, Pulborough, Storrington and Wisborough Green.”
There was a great need, said the district commissioner, for adult help to accommodate all the young people in the groups.
