‘THE No 9 bus to Utopia’ is the title of a Petworth Society talk on Wednesday, December 10.
Soon to be released as a book, it is David Bramwell’s firsthand account of his year travelling around the world, seeking out the most extraordinary communities.
They vary from an anarchist community in the heart of Copenhagen to a 1,000-strong community in the Italian Alps who have the world’s largest underground temple and claim to have conquered time travel.
The talk is illustrated with slides and billed as a ‘humorous but sincere appraisal of how we live in the 21st century’ and includes David’s own ideas of how we can make our towns and cities more Utopian.
The lecture takes place at the Leconfield Hall in Petworth at 7.30pm.
There will be refreshments and a raffle and tickets are £4.
Society chairman Peter Jerrome said: “This promises to be a very interesting and attractive lecture and we are opening it up to non-members as well as members.”
