A PETWORTH shop has been picked as one of the best gift retailers in the country.

Red Card, which opened in 2012 on the High Street, has been selected as a finalist in The Greats Gift Retailer Awards 2015.

It is tremendously exciting to be nominated for an award this year, as it is industry recognition for our hard work, and also acknowledges our stock selection is ‘on trend’ and beautifully merchandised, which are two of our main aims

It is a partnership between Steve Howe, who owns The Petworth Bookshop, and manager Sally Matson.

Sally said: “We opened Red Card as we felt there was room in the market in Petworth for a quality retailer selling beautiful greeting cards and gifts.

“We were rewarded for our efforts when Red Card won a RETAS award in 2014. This was voted for by the greeting card industry and we were thrilled our shop was recognised.

“We have gained a reputation for selling an expansive stock. We have gained recognition from our very local customer base, and as our reputation has grown, so has our catchment.

“We now have regular customers from as far away as Horsham and Chichester, which for a shop the size of Red Card, is a wonderful acknowledgement.

“It is tremendously exciting to be nominated for an award this year, as it is industry recognition for our hard work, and also acknowledges our stock selection is ‘on trend’ and beautifully merchandised, which are two of our main aims.”

Finalists were decided as a result of an industry-wide poll and the winners will be revealed at an awards lunch at the Savoy Hotel in London on May 7.
