PETWORTH Vision is a strategy between Chichester District Council (CDC) and various organisations in the town, designed to improve the sustainability of Petworth over the coming years.
The Petworth Vision group is made up of councillors and local representatives, and is supported by the Economic Development Service at CDC.
Surveys were distributed around the area over the course of the summer, to find out the views of businesses, visitors, and residents.
Paper surveys were distributed around the town centre, in Tiffins Tea Room and the Cotton Wool Store, alongside street interviews and touchscreen kiosks at Petworth House and the Hungry Guest.
Survey responses came from around the country.
The main reasons for visiting the area include shopping, leisure and recreation, with restaurants, cafes, and specialist independent retailers polled as the most popular places to visit.
Their visit to the town was rated by 53.2 per cent of people as ‘excellent’ while 2.2 per cent said it was ‘old and neglected’.
