A NEW bid to build 50 homes is likely to dismay objectors.
Landlink Estates is appealing Chichester District Council’s decision to refuse an outline application for 50 homes on Park Farm, off Park Lane.
The original application proved unpopular with residents and councillors alike with more than 130 residents writing to the council about the scheme and local groups joining the outcry.
Concerns raised included added congestion on the B2145, which was also named as a frequent accident site and relaxation of planning rules.
Objectors also said the population of Selsey effectively doubled in the summer months, impacting on infrastructure.
Selsey Town Council objected on a number of issues including the loss of agricultural land, a lack of adequate infrastructure and the failings of the current sewage system.
Refusing the application, councillors said: “The proposal by reason of its scale, form and location would result in piecemeal housing development within the rural area and would cause significant visual harm to the character of the surroundings.”
An appeal hearing date has not yet been set but anyone wishing to comment should send three copies to The Planning Inspectorate, 3/05 Wing, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN, no later than October 22.
