Plans to move Midhurst’s Post Office from its current home in North Street’s Tuck Shop to the Bepton Road service station are ‘outrageous’ says chairman of Rother Valley Together (RVT) Margaret Guest.

RVT is a day care club for elderly and vulnerable people and Mrs Guest said she had particular concerns about access: “Disabled access and the safety aspect for disabled people with scooters and other mobility aids is a big concern.”

She added: “The forecourt is dangerous for any pedestrian as there is no designated foot-way. Parents with children as well as older people would be very much at risk trying to negotiate a safe exit as vehicles pulling out from the garage. “Also it is close to a mini roundabout which is often congested with traffic from three directions. While vehicles queuing and then pulling away from the pedestrian crossing can also present a hazard. It is madness.”

She is objecting on behalf of RVT and urging individuals to express their concerns.
